FG Says No Going Back On The Fine Imposed On Mtn
The Federal has insists that it will enforce
the December 31 deadline imposed on MTN Group Ltd to pay $3.9 billion
fine, The Minister of Communications, Mr Adebayo Shittu, stated this
while speaking on the fine imposed against the telecoms firms.
He added that the
federal government would not consider an extension to the deadline. The
NCC had imposed the penalty on MTN for failing to meet a deadline to
disconnect 5.1 million unregistered subscribers as security agencies
seek to fight crime in the country.
Meanwhile,Mtn has taken
the case before the federal high court insisting that the NCC does not
hold the power to impose such fines on the group.
